What is the meaning of gender, of sex, of labels? Concepts used to describe us, ascribe to us certain aspects of society and social structure. It’s politics, identities made political, splashed across news headlines, executive orders in sensational articles meant to garner outrage, and likes and shares.

Identities —like so many borders around the world, as is the case if one listens to political leaders— these are not meant to be crossed, there is no mixing, there is no re-interpretation of the social order. But as asylum seekers exist and attempt to find solace and peace in the migration from one point to another, so too do we as humans traverse the breadth of identities to find the spot within a definition in which we find belonging; in which we find peace.

This artistic series is an exploration of the zeros and ones and socially ascribed characteristics that are used to define and place us within gendered categories. And the social accountability that comes with these labels.

Driven by curiosity and built on purpose, this is where bold thinking meets thoughtful execution. Let’s create something meaningful together.
